Padauk Wood - Native to Central and tropical West Africa, the heartwood ranges from pinkish to a deep brownish red. Most pieces tend to start reddish orange when freshly cut, darkening over time to a reddish brown.

Wenge Wood- Native to Central Africa the heartwood is listed as endangered due to a population reduction. Only dead trees are harvested for production. This makes the heartwood very valuable and limited. The heartwood is medium brown, sometimes with a reddish or yellowish hue and nearly black streaks.

Zebra Wood- Native to West Africa, only trees older than 100 years are harvested for production. The heartwood is a light brown to a straw color with dark brown streaks, vaguely resembling zebra stripes.

Shaker Woodworks is based out of Holdrege, Nebraska. He sells a variety of cutting boards and trivets made out of Locally Sourced Exotic Woods.
