Shaker Woodworks is based out of Holdrege, Nebraska. They have a variety of hand crafted exotic wood cutting boards and trivets.

Each piece is uniquely made from several of the following wood types.

Bubinga Wood - Native to Equatorial Africa, the heartwood ranges from pinkish red to a darker reddish brown, sometimes with darker purple or black streaks. The sapwood is a pale straw color.

Canary Wood - Native to Panama to Southern Brazil, the heartwood the can be rainbow colored, with dark red streaks, along with the natural orange, yellow and brown coloration. Color tends to darken and homogenize with age. Each section of the wood is unique because the heartwood varies with color and grain.

Padauk - Native to Central and tropical West Africa, the heartwood ranges from pinkish to a deep brownish red. Most pieces tend to start reddish orange when freshly cut, darkening over time to a reddish brown.

Purple Heart - Native to Central and South America, the heartwood when freshly cut is a dull gravish/purple brown. Upon exposure, usually within a few days, the wood becomes a deeper eggplant color and will age to a very dark brown with a hint of purple.

Sapele - Native to tropical Africa this wood is listed as vulnerable due to a population reduction. Only trees older than 100 years are harvested for production. The heartwood is a golden to dark reddish brown and will darken with age.

Satine (Bloodwood) - Native to Tropical South America the heartwood can be vivid red, darkening over time to a darker brownish red when exposed to light. Traditionally known by the name Satine, but is now more commonly called Bloodwood.

Wenge - Native to Central Africa the heartwood is listed as endangered due to a population reduction. Only dead trees are harvested for production. This makes the heartwood very valuable and limited. The heartwood is medium brown, sometimes with a reddish or yellowish hue and nearly black streaks.

Zebra - Native to West Africa, only trees older than 100 years are harvested for production. The heartwood is a light brown to a straw color with dark brown streaks, vaguely resembling zebra stripes.
