Sue Kemp is not a candy maker by trade nor is anyone in her family. She comes from a long line of educators and followed the same career path, spending 22 years in education—specifically in the field of special education. When Sue was a student teacher, she obtained a hand-written recipe from a kind mentor who had no idea how she came into possession of it or how old it was. She thought making this toffee and giving it as gifts during the holidays was a great way to say “thank you” to all the marvelous teachers with whom she had worked. After much experimenting, some setbacks, and modifications of the original recipe on her part, she had perfected a toffee that she have subsequently given as holiday presents since that time. She started noticing that those that received the toffee weren’t taking it home to their family. She would inquire as to why they were keeping it at work and the common answer she heard is: “I don’t take it home because then I’ll have to share it with others.” She was inspired to start her business after age 40 after years of positive feedback, and hasn't looked back. Her toffee is hand stirred, poured, spread and broken individually so that each piece is as unique as a snowflake! Based in Lincoln, Nebraska.
