This choker is made with sinew. The spacers are made of leather. The beads are red dyed hairpipe bone beads and brass beads. The concho in the center is made from brass. The ties on the back are made of buckskin leather. This necklace is adjustable with the length starting at 15". It measures 1.25" in width.
Choker necklaces such as this one were worn by Lakota warriors for protection. Chokers are also used in some ceremonial dances.
Pedro simental, who goes by the nickname Tuffy, is an artist who grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Pedro comes from a Lakota and Aztec family. Pedro has been in several movies, including Hidalgo.
