These necklaces are made by hand with rawhide and soft buckskin decorated with brass beads. They are a small version of the actual knives worn by historic Native Americans. I create the rawhide and buckskin and shape the parfleche knives and then paint the designs on them. The natural earth tones and designs are traditional to the Lakota Sioux.
This necklace, made from rawhide and shaped into a knife and sheath, is a very unique treasure. The knife can be removed from the sheath and is decorated with a complimentary design. The sheath is decorated with soft buckskin fringe and brass beads. It is very light weight. The designs and earth tones are symbolic of the Native American world.
Knife with sheath is 4" long and 1 1/4" wide. The necklace is on a 28" leather thong. The decorative fringe is 3-4" long.
